Become a PALS Instructor?

Already certified in Pediatric Advanced Life Support? Take the next step in your nursing or healthcare career by becoming an AHA-aligned PALS Instructor through NETC-Health™. This course prepares experienced PALS providers to teach and certify healthcare professionals in the recognition and management of pediatric respiratory distress, shock, and cardiac arrest.

Who This Course Is For
• RNs, paramedics, respiratory therapists, physicians, PAs, and other healthcare providers who want to teach PALS courses
• Current PALS providers in good standing looking to advance into clinical education or staff development roles
• NICU, PICU, pediatric ED, and pediatric code team staff, and clinical educators
• Existing BLS/ACLS Instructors expanding their instructor credentials to pediatric care

What You’ll Learn
• How to teach and evaluate PALS systematic approach algorithms, including recognition of respiratory distress/failure, shock, and pediatric cardiac arrest
• Pediatric-specific rhythm recognition, vascular access, and resuscitation medication/dosing teaching points
• Instructor-level teaching methodology for high-stress skills: pediatric megacode facilitation, debriefing, and team dynamics coaching
• How to conduct and score megacode testing, skills stations, and the written exam
• Course administration, documentation, and certification issuance requirements

Prerequisites
• Current, unexpired PALS Provider certification (card must be valid through the course date)
• Current BLS Provider certification
• Must be at least 18 years old
• Recommended: active clinical experience in a pediatric, NICU/PICU, or emergency setting

Course Format & Length
This is a blended-learning course combining self-paced online instructor essentials modules with an in-person instructor skills session, where candidates lead a pediatric megacode, demonstrate teaching and debriefing technique, and complete required skills evaluations under monitor supervision.

What You’ll Earn
Upon successful completion, candidates receive an Instructor certification, valid for two years, authorizing them to teach and certify students in PALS Provider courses. Renewal and monitoring requirements apply per guidelines.
